WHO WE AREYWAM Ships Philippines was established to cater to the needs of isolated islands. We carry volunteers and supplies onboard, bringing compassion, hope and training to remote locations accessible only by ships. When we look back at our maritime beginnings in Youth With A Mission we see a story God has writen about reaching the isolated and hurting people of our world. Many in dire need are tucked away in villages without hope of ever seeing their circumstances change. Our heart is to reach the ALL and EVERY because we believe that healthcare is a fundamental right of EVERYONE.Ships Philippines is joining this growing maritime movement of YWAM which has been in existence since 1978. It was born in direct response to the daunting challenge of providing medical access to isolated communities. Our efforts as a global ships movement has birthed 26 YWAM vessels in operation around the globe.WHAT WE DOThe passion and thrust of YWAM SHIPS PHILIPPINES is to bring medical, dental, ophthalmic and primary health care aid into the most isolated islands of our country. We have the capacity to overcome isolation and lack of access through the use of ships, allowing local health workers and other volunteer personnel transportation to many communities that currently struggle in receiving basic services. Our mission is to reach areas that have barely any chance at getting aid and medical services. The Philippines’ inhospitable terrain, extensive waterways, infrastructure challenges, and the extreme remoteness of many communities pose a significant challenge to effective health service delivery. The m/v PACIFIC LINK overcomes isolation by traveling into remote locations two weeks at a time and deploying multiple teams via tenders. Other teams trek inland from coastal landing sites depending on community locations. The m/v PACIFIC LINK itself performs a logistical supporting role and also houses specialized medical operational facilities. Our Programs Include• Primary Health Care (encompassing maternal and child health)• Eye Health (Optometry and Ophthalmology)• Dentistry• Health promotion• Water and sanitation• Continuing professional development programs for rural health professionals• Distribution of essential medical consumables to remote health facilitiesWHAT'S NEW?The mv Pacific Link has finally sailed from if six month dock in Lae to Madang, Papua New Guinea where she is scheduled for an emergency dry dock. In the next week, we will be provisioning the boat, rounding up its crew and fueling for the journey to the Philippines. Things are truly coming together. Within this week, we continue to raise 4.2 Million Philippine Pesos to cover the remaining expenses needed for the international journey and its documentation. Will you join us in this endevour and help bring hope to the isolated islands of the Philippines. To know more: http://www.ywamshipsphilippines.com/
