Dream Catcher Appeal
We are a small, but very dedicated, local charity. Our aim is to ‘make dreams come true’ and we do this by providing gifts, rather than money, to those in need. Small things can make a big difference; be it reams of paper, a specially adapted tricycle for a young person with disabilities or a camping lodge with access for people with special needs, we are always looking to help and spread a little joy. There are no criteria or demographic for our beneficiaries: as long as they have an Isle of Man connection and are non-profitable we are willing to help in any way we can. We even help other charities which is unique! We are backed by Manx Radio which means our reach is far and wide on the island.
Nobles Hospital is the Isle of Mans main hospital with 20 ward areas and 314 beds. There is a dedicated Children’s Ward that looks after the islands sick children providing not only a high standard of medical care but also, perhaps more importantly for the children, a safe, calm and secure place for them to recuperate whilst be looked after with love and support by the dedicated team of doctors and nurses.
Background
The main hospital has TV’s at each bed space but unfortunately the Children’s Ward has not yet been approved for any. There are side rooms with TV’s in the Children’s Ward however, with many children confined to bed during their treatment or recovery this is not ideal. Project Goal
10 Portable DVD Players
The Children’s Ward has a plentiful supply of DVD’s to entertain the children however, nothing to play them on. The request is for 10 portable DVD players to enable the bed bound children to have some entertainment during their stay in hospital. It is felt this would help them relax, fill some hours and enhance their recovery.
