On December 16 to 17, 2021, Typhoon Rai (locally called Odette) devastated several parts of the Philippines, mostly in the southern part of the country. It was elevated to Category 4 storm and was considered the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines in 2021. The typhoon caused immense destruction to infrastructure, agriculture, and human lives.
The province of Bohol was one of the most affected areas in Visayas. According to Bohol Governor Arthur Yap, around 200,000 families were affected in the province. More than a month after the typhoon, there is still much to be done to help them recover. Because of this, Project PEARLS is launching “Bayanihan para sa Bohol” to help children and youth who have been affected by the typhoon.
Through the spirit of Bayanihan, we aim to rebuild hopes and lives in times of calamity.
