Donations for Families Affected by the Taal Volcano Eruption
On January 12, Taal Volcano started emitting a plume of steam and sulfur dioxide, causing 8,000 displaced families from Batangas and Cavite. Halfway through the first month of the new year, Taal started doing what it did forty-three years ago.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), more than 500 volcanic earthquakes have been monitored in the area since January 12, Sunday. 169 of them were felt at intensity I to V. This just means that magma is still rising.
With Taal Volcano still on Alert Level 4 and Phivolcs monitoring suggests a large chance that there will be an explosive eruption, the affected families will not be able to go back to their homes anytime soon.
Let us make our brothers and sisters in Batangas and Cavite feel that they are not alone in this. Please donate to this campaign so we can provide them with basic necessities. Should you want to give in-kind donations, just refer to the list below:
• Ready-to-eat food
• Bottled water
• Hygiene kits
• Blankets
• Medicines
• Face masks (N95)
• New clothes (or if used, please ensure that they are clean)
You may drop them off at #2 Mt. Apo Street, Amityville, San Jose, Montalban, Rizal. For any questions and concerns, you may contact Ria Ontoy at +63 (02) 89902800.
The affected families face a tough situation because none of us can tell what will happen next, but knowing that there are people who care makes it bearable.
